The Department of Art and Music Histories in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks to appoint a musicologist or ethnomusicologist specializing in global music history. Duties will include teaching Understanding Music I and II (an introductory-level music appreciation sequence taught from a global music history perspective), Introduction to World Music, undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, and participation in committees and service work at the departmental and college levels. A successful candidate will be committed to diversity and inclusion. A Ph.D. in musicology, ethnomusicology, or related field by the appointment date is required. College-level teaching experience and demonstrable expertise with online teaching modalities are preferred. Start date: August 2021. Application deadline: February 28, 2021.
