Assistant Professor of Music, Orchestral Conducting (UMBC, Department of Music)


The Department of Music at UMBC seeks an Assistant Professor (full-time, tenure track) in Orchestral Conducting, to begin August 2022. This individual will be responsible for the direction of the UMBC Symphony Orchestra with additional teaching, recruiting, advising, and service responsibilities assigned based on candidate interests and departmental needs. The successful applicant will be an experienced conductor, with additional teaching skills/experiences that will broaden our curricular offerings. A secondary area of research or creative activity is welcome. Applicants who demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by way of teaching, performing, publishing, or volunteer experiences are urged to submit an application. Salary is competitive. Master’s degree is required.
